Nutrition

Being mindful is an important part of nutrition education.

Nutrition is more than just the food we eat and our knowledge of food.

It is everything that we consume: what we see, hear, feel, smell, and taste. It's also what we choose to eat or choose not to eat, sustainable practices, cultural practices, family, and our budget.

My nutrition studies include an Advanced Certificate in Nutritional Sciences from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies, a Certificate in Nutrition and Coaching from Precision Nutrition, and an Ayurvedic Nutritionist Certification.

I have studied various aspects of nutrition through other modalities such as during my Anthro Major, Personal Training Certifications, Yoga Teacher Training in India, and in online courses in TCM, just for fun.

My nutrition education really began as a child. We were raised eating delicious and healthy food, and not only did we always have a garden full of veg and many fruit trees in every house we lived in but for several years we lived on a market gardening farm where we grew millions of different vegetables...or so it seemed at the time. When I was 8 years old I picked a beautiful red capsicum for my teacher and she thought that was sweet, so every day for a week I picked her one until she asked me if my parents knew what I was doing! Yes, apparently it was an expensive fruit. I was still allowed to pick something for her every now and then, just not every day.
